The tertiary sewer is generally of 225 mm to 300 mm in diameter. It shall be mainly installed using the conventional open-cut method, with only a small portion using the trenchless method.
The overall length of the Sewer Network under this Package 3 is approximately 49 km and it consists of:
a. | Secondary Sewer | : | Approx. 6 km |
b. | Tertiary Sewer | : | Approx. 43 km |
Property Connections:
Property Connections involves the re-routing of existing domestic plumbing for the collection of wastewater (i.e. greywater and blackwater) to public sewer networks. Wastewater from within the property boundaries (i.e. Houses, Shops, Institutions or Commercial Complexes) is collected and channelled via sewer within the property boundary to an Inspection Chamber outside the property boundary. From the Inspection Chamber it will then be connected to the nearest public sewer. A pumping system may be adopted for properties for those properties with limited space. In such cases, electric pumps will be installed in the existing septic tanks or package plants. Upon completion of the property connection works, the existing unused septic tanks or package plants will be disinfected and decommissioned.
The total number of properties to be connected under this Package 3 is about 13,000 units with an estimated 70,683 PE.
